Dear Community, Earlier this month the Aurora City Council ran out of time and pushed the hearing of our Safer Aurora and Legal Defense Fund ordinances to this upcoming Monday (12/21). So what does this mean? It means the opposition will be coming out stronger against our immigrant community by continuing to criminalize our loved ones. The Safer Aurora ordinance ensures that Aurora is not doing ICE’s job, ensuring that no local funding goes to enforcing federal law, and stopping federal overreach by keeping immigration agents away from our schools, hospitals and other sensitive locations, we can protect Aurora families, especially Black immigrant families that are vulnerable to the anti-Black racism that arrests, detains, and deports them at the highest rates. What can you do? 1. It’s going to take all of us to make sure we win. We need to show up in numbers and email Aurora City Council today! Click on the icon below to send your email or click HERE for more information 2 . Connect with our community organizers to find more ways to get involved so can ensure all Aurorans have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive with their families intact. Click HERE to get started. Our voices are powerful. Let's stand together for our immigrant neighbors. In solidarity, The COPA Team |
